the INTERCONTINENTAL
Here was the scene: A blizzard raged outside; we were out of gin, out of bourbon, out of vodka. What we did have was lemon juice, rum, brown sugar simple syrup, and maraschino liqueur. So what I invented was the Intercontinental.
Ingredients
4 oz. light rum
2 oz. lemon juice
1½ oz. brown sugar simple syrup
¼ oz. maraschino liqueur
2 maraschino cherries (optional)
METHOD
1. Pour all ingredients into cocktail shaker.
2. Fill with ice cubes.
3. Shake for 20 seconds.
4. Strain into chilled martini glasses.
5. Garnish with cherries, if using.
